The Ricoh Arena has marked its landmark birthday by celebrating being shortlisted in the inaugural Coventry and Warwickshire Tourism and Culture Awards 2015.

The award-winning venue, which has now been open for ten years, has been nominated in the Business Tourism Award and the Customer Service Award categories.

The presentation ceremony is taking place at the Ricoh Arena on Thursday, September 24, when all the winners will be announced.

Andy Gibb, managing director at the Ricoh Arena, said the venue plays a pivotal role in boosting the area’s culture and tourism economy.

“We have become renowned as a world-class destination for business, entertainment and sport over the last decade and we are proud to have made a significant difference to the visitor economy,” he said.

“Over the last 12 months, we have set a new Ricoh Arena and Aviva Premiership home ground attendance record of 32,019 when Wasps played Leicester Tigers, we’ve had over 67,000 gamers attend the Insomnia festivals from as far away as America and Australia and we hosted Europe’s biggest alpaca show.

“This means we are attracting people who wouldn’t ordinarily visit the area since they are coming to The Ricoh to attend a conference, exhibition, show, concert or sporting fixture.

“We believe our state-of-the-art facilities and staff provide exceptional service to attract international, national and regional businesses and we are delighted to be recognised by being shortlisted in the Coventry and Warwickshire Tourism and Culture Awards.

Andy said providing top-class customer service is at the heart of every event at the Ricoh Arena.

He said: “Wasps’ management team has seamlessly become part of the existing structure at the Ricoh Arena and customer service remains our number one priority.

“Our staff constantly go the extra mile to make sure everyone has the best possible time during their visit to Coventry and Warwickshire and we constantly work closely with organisers to provide the kind of event their customers want to attend – and return again.”
