Prosthetics Event November 2019

Date: 9 Dec 2019

Coventry’s Ricoh Arena has welcomed BAFTA and Oscar winners from some of the world’s biggest films and TV shows to showcase their visual talents at a major industry show.

Prosthetic makeup artists from Harry Potter, Game of Thrones and Star Wars visited Ricoh Arena for The Prosthetics Event, which made its debut in Coventry to accommodate its sixth consecutive year of growth.

More than 200 prosthetic makeup artists, retailers and show staff welcomed over 2,000 hobbyists and students to watch demonstrations of individuals transformed into monsters and creatures, while gaining an insight into the prosthetic makeup industry.

Lisa Gorton, from The Prosthetics Event, said: “The prosthetic makeup industry is thriving with so many students and hobbyists keen to learn, and with the growth of online streaming via the likes of Netflix and Apple TV, we believe the popularity will continue to surge as we have seen with our own event.

“We needed extra room to accommodate growth and Ricoh Arena was the perfect venue with a blank canvas for us to grow over a sustained period of time, as well as being at the heart of the UK. The feedback we have had from visitors has been very encouraging.”

Caroline Lissaman, Head of Event Management at Ricoh Arena, added: “The Prosthetics Event has been one of the most visually striking shows that we have held at Ricoh Arena, and reinforces the variety of events that we are attracting to the city.

“There is so much potential for us to help grow the show over the coming years, and we look forward to working with the event organisers in the future.”
