COVENTRY'S SUMMER OF MUSIC

Coventry’s summer of music is being celebrated and promoted with a new campaign across the city streets.

A range of banners and large posters now adorn lampposts on the A444 and along the Kenilworth Road highlighting the exciting range of musical events coming to the city.

The campaign has been organised by Coventry City Council, as part of its ongoing support as a Principal Partner of the bid to become City of Culture in 2021, alongside the Ricoh Arena, which is the main bid sponsor.

The idea is to let local people and visitors to the city know about the line-up heading to Coventry over the course of the next few months.

It kicks-off with Jess Glynne at the Ricoh Arena on April 29 and will be followed by a host of names – such as Tom Odell, Chase & Status and the Kaiser Chiefs at MTV Crashes in May.

That will be followed by Bruce Springsteen and Rihanna at the Ricoh Arena before the Godiva Festival in the Memorial Park from July 1 to July 3 which includes performances from The Boomtown Rats, The Charlatans, The Mystery Jets and Scouting For Girls.

Local acts too, such as The Ellipsis, will also be performing at Godiva before the Coventry Mela, a two day south Asian festival, hits the Ricoh Arena in August.

Juliet Colley, Bid Assistant of the City Of Culture Trust, said: “It promises to be a fantastic summer of music in Coventry and this is a great way to promote the events both to local people and to visitors.

“The Ricoh Arena is hosting a great mix of acts which are set to bring people from all over the UK – and the world – to Coventry which will be a huge boost to the local economy.

“And the Godiva Festival is now a staple part of the city’s calendar and this year’s line-up is one of the best ever.”
