Wasps making a splash at SPATEX 2017

Wasps’ lock Matt Symons is set to make a splash and sign autographs at SPATEX 2017 to help celebrate the exhibition’s 21st anniversary.

Symons, who joined the club this season, has played his part in helping Wasps to the top of the table and to an unbeaten home record at the Ricoh Arena in 2016. He will arrive at 2pm on Tuesday Jan 31st to chat with visitors and sample the latest innovations in the water industry, one of which is swimming ponds.

More than 100 exhibitors from the UK, Europe and America are expected to visit the Ricoh Arena between Tuesday, January 31 and Thursday, February 2 for SPATEX 2017, which is the UK’s number one water leisure exhibition for the domestic and commercial pool and spa industry.

As well as the general public, the show attracts pool and spa builders, installers, retailers, designers, architects, distributors and manufacturers along with staff from local authorities, leisure centres, hotels and holiday complexes.

Wasps’ Deputy Chairman Nick Eastwood will also be giving a talk to businesses on Tuesday Jan 31st at 2pm on the rugby club’s commercial journey since moving to the Midlands, and is speaking about increasing profitability, maximising leisure facilities and building a brand.

Michele Bridle, event organiser of SPATEX 2017, said: “We are really pushing the boat out to engage our visitors this year in what looks set to be the busiest year ever.

“We’re delighted to have a couple of special guests from Wasps attending, and particularly hope some of our visitors can glean some useful business advice from Nick Eastwood.

“As well as looking at the latest products in the water industry, the show is a really important resource for visitors to update their skillset and keep track of how to overcome the latest industry issues – we will have 20 workshops and 22 seminars spread across the three days.”

This year’s show covers a diverse range of topics for both the commercial and domestic sectors, including the latest guidance on Legionnaires’ disease and cryptosporidium to an introductory talk on swimming ponds and natural swimming pools.

Andy Gibb, managing director at the Ricoh Arena, said: “As a venue, we are always striving to help event organisers to improve their shows every year, and inviting one of our Wasps players along is a great example of that.

“This is the fourth year that SPATEX is returning to our venue, which attracts thousands of families and commercial visitors every year, and we’re confident that this will be their best year yet.”

Visitor registration is free by booking online at www.spatex.co.uk or just by turning up at the Ricoh Arena on the day.
