Celebration of Sri Lankan music and culture
Music and culture took centre stage at Coventry Building Society Arena as the venue hosted thousands of people from the Sri Lankan community.
Summer Punch 2024 brought together Sri Lankans from across the UK to see some of the country’s biggest musical stars take to the stage.
The event was held in the Indoor Arena and was the inaugural full-standing concert hosted in the UK by Shahashra Entertainments.
It was the biggest Sri Lankan concert in the UK this year and featured a packed line-up of huge stars, many of whom flew in especially for the show.
The event was headlined by musician, composer and songwriter Shihan Mihiranga – one of the country’s biggest youth sensations in the 2000s and a product of reality show Sirasa Superstar.
Fans were also treated to a performance from Wasthi, a two-man group which runs the number one entertainment YouTube channel in Sri Lanka, and Umara Sinawansha, who is renowned for her contributions to the country’s pop, R&B and jazz genres.
Six-person band Infinity completed the line-up on what was a night to remember for everyone who attended.
Summer Punch 2024 was part of a calendar of indoor live music events this summer at Coventry Building Society Arena, which is being delivered under the CBS Live brand.
The Indoor Arena has already hosted Bryan Adams and is set to host Sean Paul next month.
Jenni Ford, Director of Sales and Marketing at Coventry Building Society Arena, said it was proud to have hosted this important event for the Sri Lankan community.
She said: “It’s been a brilliant summer so far for music fans at the Arena and Summer Punch has played a big part in that.
“Shahashra Entertainments organised a brilliant show and there was a unique atmosphere in the Indoor Arena all evening.
“We’ve hosted some huge names at the venue over the last two decades and now we can add four of the most renowned and highly regarding artists from Sri Lanka to that list.”
