Coventry Building Society Arena hosts EA FC 24 tournament
Gamers are being invited to Coventry Building Society Arena to compete in its inaugural EA FC 24 tournament and have a chance to lift the CBS Arena Cup.
The free-to-enter tournament will be held in the Anecdote Bar at the Arena on Thursday, January 4, with two trophies up for grabs.
It will see 64 players go head-to-head at the venue on the popular football video game, with a youth cup for 13-to-16-year-olds from 10am to 2pm, before the CBS Arena Cup gets underway at 3pm.
It is the first time that the venue has hosted an EA FC 24 tournament and players will have the chance to win hospitality tickets to a Coventry City home game and a £100 Game voucher.
The tournament will be played in the format of the World Cup and on EA FC 24’s ‘Kick-Off’ mode, with players able to choose any team rated over four stars.
Coventry Building Society Arena will be installing 16 PS5 consoles in The Anecdote on the day of the tournament.
The winner will hold the title of Coventry Building Society Arena EA FC 24 Champion, bragging rights with their mates and can lay claim to being Coventry’s top FC 24 player.
It is expected that the tournament could lead to larger E-Sports events and tournaments being held at the Arena.
Jenni Ford, Director of Sales and Marketing at Coventry Building Society Arena, said: "We are thrilled to be hosting this tournament in The Anecdote and are looking forward to welcoming the EA FC community to the Arena in January.
“We’re expecting the level of play to be very high and incredibly competitive as 64 players strive to win the CBS Arena Cup.
“Esports continues to grow in popularity and we hope that this tournament will lead to even bigger esports tournaments being held at the venue.”
