"Exclusive Sneak Peek: The Monster 300 meter Obstacle Course Set to Thrill Coventry"

Thrill-seekers tame ‘The Monster’, the newest attraction at Coventry Building Society Arena

Monster mania is about to take a tight grip of Coventry’s leading leisure and hospitality venue.

The world’s largest inflatable obstacle course, otherwise known as ‘The Monster’, opens to the public this Thursday at Coventry Building Society Arena.

The 300-metre course, featuring no fewer than 40 challenges and three different sections of bouncy mayhem, will take up residence inside the award-winning venue’s indoor arena.

Members of the media, key stakeholders and Arena staff caught a first glimpse of The Monster in all its spongy glory at a special sneak peek event last weekend. The first impressions were amazingly strong!

Siblings Maisy, Daisy, Mae and Michael, all aged seven and over, zipped down The Monster’s 25ft high final slide to cross the finish line first.

"It was really fun," Mae said. "The slides were really good fun. And it's not too difficult!"

“It was so much fun,” Maisy said. “Kids are really going to love it!”

Sam Lee and Chloe Maddox, from Coventry, may not have been the first people round The Monster, but they were at least the first to enter its inflatable jaws.

"I'm 42 and really unfit and I managed it," Sam said. "Having said that, it wasn't easy. I feel like I've been to the gym! It’s great fun though.”

Chloe, 19, can see it being a monstrous hit with the public. "I think it will be very popular," she said. "It’s definitely well worth a visit."

Thrill-seekers start their journey on The Monster to the sounds of cheers and sirens with staggered entry in place to allow everyone to pass through safely.

Paul Michael, Managing Director of Coventry Building Society Arena, says the giant inflatable, which enjoyed successful tours of Canada and Miami Beach in the USA last year, will be perfect for family fun days, birthday parties and corporate events.

“We’re really proud to have lured The Monster to our venue,” he said. “It’s really affordable, really enjoyable and there’s lots of things to do for both adults and children.

“Everyone who has been on The Monster says how much fun it is and that they can’t believe it’s here. There’s a really positive vibe. We’re looking forward to welcoming as many people as possible.”

The Monster is open to kids aged seven and over. Kids under seven can, under the supervision of parents, occupy themselves by playing in the huge inflatable ball pits within the hall.

Guests will be able to buy sweet treats from a pick ’n’ mix stall inside the arena. Food and drink bought from the stadium concourse will be allowed into the hall housing The Monster.

The Monster will open every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday between August 1 and September 1.

Tickets are £10 for children aged seven to 16, and £14.95 for adults. Family tickets, for two parents and two children, are available for £45.

Admission is, however, free for one particular Coventry schoolgirl and her family.

Perneet, a Year four pupil at Parkgate Primary School in Holbrooks, won a poster designing competition that had been open to all schoolchildren in the city aged seven and over.

Spectator adults and kids under seven are free. Each booking is for a one-hour period.
