POLISH CHOIR PREPARING FOR BIGGEST CROWD EVER
35 STRONG CHOIR
An all-Polish choir is preparing for their biggest ever crowd when they perform at a packed-out Ricoh Arena next week.
Senza Nome will join three English choirs to sing all four national anthems before the kick-offs in the RFL Four Nations double-header on Saturday, November 5 which will see England take on Scotland (5.30pm kick-off) and Australia play New Zealand (8pm kick-off).
The choir have previously sang the Polish national anthem live before a Great Britain vs Poland ice hockey game, their biggest crowd to date – but Senza Nome will now perform in-front of a bumper Ricoh Arena crowd and millions more on television around the world.
In their 35 strong choir they feature voices from all over the region, 12 of which will perform at the Ricoh Arena on match day.
Their members will form one quarter of the large combined choir – sourced by Chant Productions – performing on the day, as they are joined by local choirs Sing It Loud, Forte Gospel Choir and The Belles of The Three Spires.
England, Scotland, New Zealand and Australia’s anthems will be sang, alongside a unique piece written specially for the Four Nations.
Senza Nome regularly perform two or three concerts a month and have previously represented Coventry at the annual International Choir Festival in Poland.
Each choir member has moved to the area from Poland within the past 10 years and each singer has worked to break the language barrier and learn the songs.
Joanna Kunda, Senza Nome musical director, said: “It has been a big challenge for everyone to learn the anthems but I am confident we will perform them brilliantly on the day.
“This will be the biggest crowd we have ever performed in-front of, it will be really exciting for everyone. When we sing you can see we are enjoying it, there is a lot of passion and we all sing from the bottom of our hearts.
“In Poland, rugby is quite new to us, when we sang at the ice hockey match some of the people really got in to the sport, so maybe this will have the same effect.”
