Waxstock comes to Coventry Building Society Arena
One of the world’s largest Midlands-based car care shows is gearing up to celebrate a record attendance on its tenth anniversary, after adding an extra date to meet accelerating demand.
Waxstock is taking place at Coventry Building Society Arena on Saturday July 22 and Sunday July 23 where up to 5,000 car care professionals and enthusiasts are expected to descend on the venue.
The show is extending to two days for the first time – with day one focusing on the car care trade with professionals from across the globe meeting more than 60 leading car care manufacturers that are exhibiting at the show to watch demos, get expert advice and close deals.
The second day, which runs from 9.30am until 4.30pm, will see more than 3,500 people attend for two of the car care industry’s most coveted competitions – THE TOP 16 SHOWDOWN, sponsored by Nasiol, and Arrive and Shine which is sponsored by Gliptone.
THE TOP 16 SHOWDOWN takes place in the Indoor Arena, and boasts a selection of some of the best detailed cars - ranging from classic to supercar models - which are judged by industry professionals.
Professional detailers and car clubs can also enter their own vehicle into the prestigious Arrive and Shine competition by turning up to the venue at 7.30am on Sunday July 23, where the first 150 entrants will get the chance to show off their attention to detail in both the cleanliness and appearance of their vehicle to try and claim the coveted trophy.
One of the organisers of Waxstock, pj Aass, has overseen the expansion of the show at Coventry Building Society Arena, which has grown from 25 exhibitors and 800 visitors in its first year to now more than 60 exhibitors and around 5,000 visitors.
He said: “This show is about the clean, not the machine, and it is a platform for those who love caring for their car to come together to find out about the latest trends and products to keep their motor in top shape.
“Whether it is a teenager and their fifth-hand Fiat Punto or a seasoned pro in a 1956 classic motor, our appeal is universal, and for many the Arrive and Shine competition is a real highlight for them.
“The judging standards in the Arrive and Shine edition are just as high as those in THE TOP 16 SHOWDOWN.
“For those who are planning to enter their own motor, our expert judges are looking for cleanliness to the point where you could eat food off it – so as well as bringing the shine out on paintwork, my advice would be to make sure your wheel arches are clean and plastic trims are looking fresh – the judges will be leaving no stone unturned.”
This year marks Waxstock’s eighth year at Coventry Building Society Arena, which sees visitors driving from as far afield as Scotland for the show, and exhibitors travelling from across the globe.
Jenni Ford, Director of Sales and Marketing at Coventry Building Society Arena, added: “Waxstock is a shining example of the venue’s ability to act as an events incubator – helping them to grow consistently year on year – to the point where they are now utilising 6,000 square metres of event space.
“We know that having all of the major facilities needed for an event all in one place – including a DoubleTree by Hilton hotel, The Anecdote Bar and Grosvenor Casino – has played a key role in ensuring that Waxstock has found a long-term home.
“The show injects a real burst of colour to the venue every year, and we are looking forward to hosting Waxstock’s biggest show yet.”
