Arctic Monkeys delight more than 37,000 at Coventry Building Society Arena

Sheffield superstars Arctic Monkeys delighted more than 37,000 fans in Coventry with a setlist featuring some of the biggest hits of the last two decades.

The rock and roll royalty performed to a sell-out crowd at Coventry Building Society Arena performing a vast range of tracks from their back catalogue – ranging from huge tunes from their first album to newer tracks from recent releases.

It marked the second performance on the Arctic Monkeys’ European tour and followed two massive performances from Harry Styles the previous week at Coventry Building Society Arena.

Alex Turner arrived on the stage to the adoration of the Coventry crowd with the 37,550 strong crowd under his control.

The performance started with a high-octane performance of ‘Brianstorm’, before moving into ‘Don't Sit down 'Cause I've Moved Your Chair’ and ‘Crying Lightning’.

The set continued at a rollercoaster pace as the fans sang along to every word to tracks such as ‘Do I Wanna Know?’, ‘Fluorescent Adolescent’, ‘Teddy Picker’, ‘505’ and more.

After opening their set with ‘Mardy Bum’ at the previous show in Bristol, the band held it back until later in this set and performed one of their most popular songs for only the second time in a decade.

The encore closed with two of the band’s biggest tracks from contrasting Arctic Monkeys’ eras – ‘I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor’ and ‘R U Mine’?

The concert topped off a massive May for Coventry Building Society Arena, with sell-out attendances at two football fixtures and three concerts.

Paul Michael, Commercial Director at Coventry Building Society Arena, said: “We’re proud to have delivered a huge summer of music here at Coventry Building Society Arena.

“The arena was rocking for Arctic Monkeys and the crowd made an incredible sound as they sang back the lyrics at the band.

“This year has cemented Coventry’s reputation as a destination for some of the biggest names in music and we look forward to revealing our line-up for next summer soon.”
